The Socialist Group in the city of Mojacar has achieved a 50% reduction in the rate of occupation of public roads, after the government team has filed a motion which takes up the proposal that the Socialist councilor requested last month.
In ordinary plenary on 24 November, the Socialist Municipal Group Mojácar filed a motion requesting a 20% discount on the receipt of the Property Tax (IBI) and 50% occupancy rate of the street/roads. This motion was rejected by a vote against the Popular Party, which ruled out completely the descent of the IBI, but said it would consider the proposal to reduce the fee for occupation of public roads.
Finally, the government team has considered the socialist and presented to the last plenary session of 26th January a motion for a reduction of this rate. The motion was approved with the votes for the Socialist Party.
The reduction of the fee for occupation of public roads, which taxes the many restaurants and souvenir businesses that install tables, chairs and stands on the outside, will represent "a boon for retailers of Mojacar, whose business is specially bad with the current crisis time ", as highlighted the Socialist Party spokesman, Manuel Zamora.
IBI
On the other hand, Zamora also recalled that the motion originally made by the Socialist Group in November also called for a reduction in the tax rate of property tax from 0.5% today to 0.4%.
Socialist spokesman believes that the people of Mojácar "are entitled to have the Town Hall to mitigate the tax-suffocation they are subjected, as the assessed value of their homes rise year after year, which will increase your bill around a 30% between 2012 and 2014. "
Zamora believes that the rebate that the socialists have proposed is viable, and that "this year is expected to increase municipal revenues in this concept, because there is a Company that is registering lots of houses that were not paying land tax"
Therefore, Zamora insists on claiming the government team of the City "greater sensitivity to the pockets of their fellow citizens and lower the tax rate at the legal minimum, set at 0.4%, which will certainly appreciate Mojacar citizens in the economic environment of crisis we are suffering. " "Hopefully in this issue we the mayoress to make us the same case that we proposed lowering the rate of occupation of public roads," he concluded.
